With the cane, the veil, the cymbals or the candelabrum the belly dance performances are an essential part of the Middle Eastern festivities. The Western public starts to appreciate this dance more and more, everywhere in the world, which increases the interest for belly dance and the Middle Eastern culture.
Irida is a professional belly dancer who performs in shows and parties, alone or with other belly dancers. She teaches belly dance in Marseilles (France). Practical experience, studies and reflection led her to her own conception of belly dance, which is integrated in a true philosophy where belly dance is the prolongation of mind and body.
Dance does not know borders or nationalities. Irida is originally from Kirghizstan, a country predominantly Muslim. Irida grew up in Central Asia, a multicultural area par excellence, with rich traditions and past.
Perhaps these origins explain partly her taste for Orient. Irida has a passion for the dance since her early childhood. In her family, one remembers still that, when she was a child, she danced each time her grandfather played accordion. During hers studies she learnt folk dance and modern dance, but she really blossomed in belly dance which leaved its mark on her and which changed her life.
You can discover photos and videos of Irida dancing in the performance page.
